Running training camps ยท 2027
Same camp. Your own plan.
A week of running from one base, with a crew, on a plan written around you.
The idea
Everyone on camp gets the same week: the same base, the same sessions, the same table at dinner.
What changes is your plan. No two runners arrive with the same legs, the same history or the same race in the diary, so no two plans are the same.
If you already have a coach or a plan, bring it. We fit the week around it.
A day on camp
This is the planned shape of a day. The detail firms up once the base is confirmed.
First light: The main session
Everyone starts together. Your paces and your distance come from your plan.
Morning: Breakfast, then the work around the running
Strength, drills or a session on fuelling and pacing.
Midday: Lunch and your own time
Rest, read, or get some work done.
Afternoon: Second run, if your plan has one
Easy kilometres on the trails and roads around the base.
Evening: Recovery, then dinner together
Recovery every night, and one evening a guest athlete talks.
Your plan
Three steps, and each one is optional if you already have it covered.
Before: We get to know your running
- You fill in a short intake questionnaire.
- We look at your Strava.
- You get a call with Sam.
On camp: Same sessions, your numbers
- A plan for the week written around you.
- Already have a coach or a plan? Bring it and we work to that.
- Group sessions where the pace is yours.
After: You leave with what comes next
- A plan for the block after camp, if you want one.
Every camp includes
- Intake questionnaire, Strava review and a call with Sam
- A plan for the week written around you
- Group sessions on the trails and roads around the base
- Shared meals
- Recovery every night
- A talk from a guest athlete
- A plan to take home, if you want one
Everyone gets the same camp. There are no tiers.
Camp types
Four kinds of camp are planned. The first is a build for the Sydney Marathon.
Race build (Planned 2027)
Build toward a race. The first planned camp is a Sydney Marathon build, held 6 to 8 weeks before the race, in mid 2027. Planned, not confirmed.
Trail and ultra block (Coming)
A block of trail running for people training toward longer, harder days on the dirt.
Base and reset (Coming)
Reset your running and build a base to train from.
Run and work (Coming)
Run around a working week. Remote-work friendly.
An honest fit check
This is for you if
- You run 10km comfortably. That is the bar for everything OUTRN does.
- You have something to train for: a race, a distance, or a base to rebuild.
- You want a full week where running comes first.
- You are happy training in a group at your own pace. Sessions run on effort, so the crew stays together while the numbers differ.
This isn't for you if
- You are not yet running 10km comfortably.
- You want a holiday with the odd jog in it.
- You want a promised finish time. We say what is included, not what it does for your time.

Camp questions
How fit do I need to be?
You should be comfortable running 10km. Camps suit people with something to train for.
How is the plan individual if everyone is on the same camp?
The week is shared: one base, the same sessions, the same meals. Your paces, distances and the plan you leave with are written around you, from your intake questionnaire, your Strava and a call with Sam.
I already have a coach. Can I still come?
Yes. Bring your plan and we fit the week around it. The individual plan is there if you want it, not a requirement.
Are there different levels or tiers?
No. Everyone gets the same camp.
Can I work during the camp?
That's what the run and work camp is for. It's one of the four camp types, and it's planned for remote workers.
When and where are camps?
Not confirmed yet. The first planned camp is a Sydney Marathon build in mid 2027, held 6 to 8 weeks before the race, at a base still to be decided.
How much does a camp cost?
Not set yet. We'll share the price before anything goes on sale.
What does coaching mean here?
A plan for your week, coached group sessions and a plan to take home. We're saying what's included, not what it'll do for your time.
